The 1940’s Tea Dress is a vintage-inspired stunner.
Inspired by Lisa’s love of 40’s fashion, the dress features a gathered bust detail, a panelled midriff and skirt, flattering elbow length sleeves and lovely contrast cuffs.
We love to add three decorative buttons down the centre front for a lovely extra bit of interest.
The pattern contains full instructions with beautifully illustrated diagrams.
Sizes 8 -20 - we strongly recommend measuring yourself and checking your size against the back of the pattern (image above) as sewing pattern sizes are not the same as 'off the peg' sizes.
This pattern is best suited to intermediate sewers and above, with experience sewing fluid, drapey fabrics. We also advise that you are confident fitting for your own body, as the midriff area of the bodice is intended to have a close fit. If you have any doubts about whether this pattern is right for you, check out Sew Over It's 1940’s Tea Dress Sewalong.
Light weight fabrics with lots of drape, cotton lawn, rayon, satin, silk or crepe are great for this dress.
