Want to start dressmaking but don’t know where to begin? The Ultimate Shift Dress would make an ideal first project!
The pattern is designed with beginners in mind, and will guide you through the basics of dressmaking. Learn how to create bust darts and attach all-in-one facings like a pro. With no tricky zips or buttonholes to master, simply pop the dress on over your head and fasten with a hook and eye. But don’t forget, with loads of options for customisation, including adding sleeves, sleeve frills and turning the dress into a top, there is plenty of scope for a more advanced dressmaker to play around and have fun!
The pattern contains full instructions with beautifully illustrated diagrams.
Sizes 8 -20 - we strongly recommend measuring yourself and checking your size against the back of the pattern (image above) as sewing pattern sizes are not the same as 'off the peg' sizes.
Lightweight cotton, cotton lawn, rayon, linen or crepe are great for this dress, or for a more structured look our medium weight cottons would be perfect - if you are making the top cotton poplin or double gauze would also give you a lightweight, soft and relaxed finish.
