Did you know that most sewing patterns are designed with a B or C cup in mind and assume that we all have our bust in the same place on our torso! If you are larger or smaller than this, you will be used to finding the underarm areas of sleeveless tops gapping, showing off more bra than you would like, and to having trouble getting dresses to fit every part of your body at the same time!
Even if you are B cup you may find that tops don't seem to sit right, that the fabric allowed for the chest is too high or low for your body shape - we can fix this too!
Spend an evening learning how to adjust standard sewing patterns to allow for your real shape - large or small bust, high or low bust - we can correct the pattern for all these issues!
We will be sewing a simple vest top with bias binding around the armholes and neckline OR simple t-shirt style top (see images above) and you can choose your fabric from across our store, all other materials will be provided.
Once you have adjusted your pattern you can take it home to make a wardrobe full of bespoke tops!
SUITABLE FOR: This is a great introduction to sewing clothes, you will need to be able to thread a machine and have had practice sewing straight lines. The pattern we use is suitable for people with a waist between 25" and 38", hips 35" to 48".
SKILLS COVERED: Measuring yourself, adjusting patterns to fit your upper body, reading sewing patterns, sewing darts and sewing with bias tape.
WHERE: Course are held in Witney or Ducklington depending on class size and your own needs.
WHEN: As this is a bespoke course we will agree a day and time to suit you (the workshop takes 2.5-3 hours). We are able to offer slots during the daytime evenings, or at weekends. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to check out our availability before booking.
WHAT IS A ONE TO ONE OR MORE COURSE?
If you can't make one of our group courses, or would like to complete a workshop or course which isn't currently running as a group course, then a 'one to one or more' course might be just what you need!
We are happy to teach all our group courses to individuals, or small groups of friends, find the course you are interested in, and view the price for the number of people who want to learn together above. Contact us to select a date and time to suit your schedule and we can take it from there - once a date has been set you can pay in one go using the website, or we can divide the cost between the participants and invoice you all separately (the only days/times we can never do are Monday or Tuesday mornings).
If your group is larger than 4 no problem, if you are able to provide a venue then the overall cost of the course will go up by £41 for every additional participant. If you would like us to provide a venue there is a flat rate of £60 for that (remember, if your group is 4 or less the venue cost is already covered). If any of this is unclear please do ask, we are happy to provide a quote.
