Can't make our regular 5 week course dates or would prefer to learn one to one or with a few friends? Then this is the course for you!
We cover all the elements of our group 5 week sewing course but on a one to one basis, on a day/at a time to suit you.
Find out more about the course below and if you would be interested in booking contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss dates.
During our 5-week introduction to sewing course you will complete 5 projects!
Designed with the absolute beginner in mind, we start with the basics of using a sewing machine, choosing fabrics and stitches. Then we move on to cover pattern cutting, bias tape making, interfacings, sewing pockets and even tackle zips!
Each week you will go home with something you have made in an evening and lots of new skills to try at home.
We provide everything you need (including a choice of fabrics from across the store for each project), if you have your own sewing machine we recommend bringing it with you, as there is nothing like learning on your own, but if you don't, you can use one of ours.
- The basics, choosing and inserting your needle, winding your bobbin and choosing your thread.
- The most popular stitches and where to use them.
- You start your own bunting and envelope style cushion cover to take home!
- We will make a curvy reversible bag, introducing sewing around curves, hiding seams and top stitching.
- We will be making half aprons (they are ones that start at the waist!) with pockets, using bias tape. OR a Simple Girl's dress (suitable for upto 8 years of age).
- Skills covered will include making and sewing with bias tape, gathering and adding pockets.
- We will finish your aprons and start zipper pouches, you can go as big or small as you like!
- Skills covered will include sewing with zips, choosing and sewing with interfacing.
We will finish your zipper pouches and bunting. If you have already finished your projects you can bring along a project of your own, or make one of the earlier projects again - cementing your learning.
Book additional courses/workshops within 6 months of the start of your course and save 10%.

WHAT IS A ONE TO ONE OR MORE COURSE?
If you can't make one of our group courses, or would like to complete a workshop or course which isn't currently running as a group course, then a 'one to one or more' course might be just what you need!
We are happy to teach all our group courses to individuals, or small groups of friends, find the course you are interested in, and view the price for the number of people who want to learn together above. Contact us to select a date and time to suit your schedule and we can take it from there - once a date has been set you can pay in one go using the website, or we can divide the cost between the participants and invoice you all separately (the only days/times we can never do are Monday or Tuesday mornings).
If your group is larger than 4 no problem, if you are able to provide a venue then the overall cost of the course will go up by £170 for every additional participant. If you would like us to provide a venue there is a flat rate of £300 for that (remember, if your group is 4 or less the venue cost is already covered). If any of this is unclear please do ask, we are happy to provide a quote.
