This heavy weight, fusible interfacing has stablising threads along the grain to help soft fabrics retain their shape. Which Vilene Fusible Interfacing product is right for me?
We sell 3 types of soft fusible interfacing, all from their higher quality Softline range, as well as thicker fusible fleeces and stiffer flexi-firm (for creating boxes/clearly defined shapes). Softline interfacing will give you project a luxury feel and help retain shapes/control drape, the thicker the interfacing the more structure you will gain. This interfacing will give you the highest level of hold available in a thin fusible interfacing, for more hold you would need to move the the Creative Range (also stocked) and buy Flexi-Firm. Its great for cottons such as those sold here at Prints to Polka Dots, where you want to give the fabric more control and a defined/crisp finish.
How to Use:
Important – the thread along the grain of the interfacing must follow the grain of the fabric. Place the interfacing with the coated side on the wrong side of the fabric. Cover the entire area with a damp cloth. Set your iron to wool/cotton, cover the interfacing with a damp cloth; press each area for 10-12 seconds, without moving the iron.
Allow the pieces to cool flat for about 30 minutes, so that the adhesive can set properly.
We strongly recommend that you attach a small piece of interfacing to a fabric remnant with your iron first to make sure that the hold and the adhesion meet your expectations.
Once your project is complete, you can wash in temperatures up to 40 °C in the gentle cycle or dry clean (providing the fabric attached can also be washed at that temperature/be dry cleaned).
