We love Waistshaper here at Prints to Polka Dots, like all the interfacings we sell, it has been robustly road tested at our Sewing School and passed the test with flying colours!
Simply cut your waistband, or waistband like structure (we use it in bag handles ALOT) fabric to the same width as the interfacing (80mm). Iron the interfacing onto the back of the fabric (it won't melt!) and then fold your fabric along the perforated edged of the interfacing. You will have crisp folds which line up perfectly and are stiff enough to hold their shape whilst you sew your band into place (for bag handles we simply fold, then edge stitch close to the open edge, and if we are feeling fancy, along the folded edge too - not even any pinning - and the strength of the interfacing gives your handles a long life without sagging!).
This tape will give you a finished waistband/strap 30mm deep.

Place on top of your fabric, rough side down, and iron into place. Hold the iron in place for about 8 seconds and then lift and press the next section of the tape.
Allow your fabric to cool off for about 20 minutes to allow the glue to properly set before sewing/using.
